Ladybug jelly!

Alrighty...here's a quickie animation done for my Drawing 4 class this semester. I plan on making this one longer in my free time over the next couple weeks. Currently it's only about 77 frames long and has no sound.

And to the left are the ladybugs I originally drew in my sketchbook at the start of this little project. I think it should be fairly obvious which one was used in the actual animation...

"Timmy Has Left the Nest"

Way back in November of '08, several people around the world participated as voice actors in the sequel to "The Birds Are Honest," a ridiculous little video/animation I made involving bird skeletons. Both videos were separate assignments for the video art class I was taking at the time and, unfortunately, I ran out of time to finish the sequel in the way it was planned in the storyboards the actors used as script. I think all of the voice actors have since seen the video that came of it anyway, but somehow I never got around to posting it here. Oops? In any case, here it is!

(Note: if the video doesn't work for you, try
back in an hour. Dunno why it does that.)

(By the way, since a few people now have been confused by this, Timmy is voiced by Kat Bongard, not me! I'm Kate, she's Kat. She's e-less! I did no voice acting because my microphone was simply never clear enough. Bah humbug...)

Bonus material!
A couple of outtakes tracks. This is what happens when you give Bongards permission to use microphones and funny voices, apparently!

...I still plan on finishing it out a bit more at some point. You guys should jab me in the eyeball if I forget again!

Okay, my little voice acting buddies!

I know I said I would get these up earlier in the week, but life is crazy like that.

Anyway, if you still want to participate, here are the storyboards. Just record any part you feel up to, or record all of them in different voices or such as you like. Make sure you leave pauses between lines for each shot, because that makes it easier for me to edit. Try to keep background noise to a minimum and avoid clicking and tapping of the mic by waiting a second or two after you hit record to start talking, and then waiting a second or two after you finish before hitting stop.

When you're done, save it as a .wav or .mp3 and email it to me, or send it to me on IM. The sooner the better, but preferably today, tomorrow, or Monday. Also, include what name you'd like to be credited as in the end! Oookay...

Also, improvisation and goofery is welcome, as long as you don't stray TOO far from the concept. Suggestions and ideas are not something I'll shoot down either!

Voice actors wanted!

Anybody (who knows me from LJ or PE) want to participate in another WTF-video project this coming weekend? I need a couple voice actors, especially ones who don't mind being dorks. All you need is a clear microphone and recording program such as Skype or Audacity so you can save it as .mp3 or .wav

Don't be shy!

Oh yeah, baby. I went there.

The Barn: Idiom #1 (wip 3)

I had a few minutes to work on stuff in this. In Premiere. TAKE THAT, FINAL CUT. Neener neener! Anyway, now with sound effects, woo!

With thanks to users from The Free Sound Project:
Foresty nature sounds --- dobroide
Creaky door sound --- HerbertBoland
Silly scream sound --- Lithe-Fider
Flapping paper sound --- cfork

I still need to push it another 8 or so seconds, and come up with three more 30 second clips, and yeah. Um. 'kay. (Um, excuse my lousy editing, I'm basically having to teach myself here and it's all new to me.)

The Barn: Idiom #1 (WIP 2)

Well, I'm out of time... I'll maybe revisit this later. It's about 17 seconds too short, has no sound, and is missing half the narrative I would include if I had the time for it. There were also going to be an additional three clips with variations on the theme. But ohhhhh well. Death (aka going to sleep now).

And in case you were wondering about that squirrel...

The Barn: Idiom #1 (WIP)

One of my classes this semester is video art. Unfortunately, this is also known as "the class with unrealistic financial expectations." That is to say, we are expected to shell out over $1000 for this class right at the start. And that's if we already own some of the hardware/equipment we need, and a Macintosh computer... Because I don't have money, or a Macintosh, or time to use the campus computers when it's over an hour just to GET to the campus...I have to make due with drawing animations for the current project rather than using video.

Here's a tiny 4 second snippet of the project I'm working on... Doing this much took me about six hours. I really need to go to bed, so I can work on it again tomorrow. Ugh.

A little bit of photo-stop-animation music video thingamajig, anyone?

Hey, who remembers the "cocaine" project? Nobody? Right. Well! Errr...here it is. Partly. Sort of. So here's a...sort of like a music video, I guess. At some point, I want to finish the rest of the song out properly, since Sia is a wonderful brand of ridiculous and may pimp it in some way, which would be great for my resume. >_> (Edit note 6/1/08: I totally just left a message for her with a link to my blog so she could see the vid if she wanted to and oh crap, that sounded so embarrassing now so I put a strike through it because altogether removing it would make me a coward!)

-- Thanks to Zodi for finding the MonkeyJam program when I panicked about how to pull it all together properly.
-- Uber thanks to Peta and Vicki for staying up late to help me try to finish this at one point. Though I didn't use your words in the end (since I had time to shoot them myself after that), you girls kept me from panicking and giving up. <333
-- Thanks to my baby sister and to the semi-adopted sister Kim for help with writing a few words.
-- Thanks to all y'all who've been listening to me go slightly insane doing this for the last week or two

Materials:
Baking soda, table salt for the fake "cocaine" mixture.
Two nylon paintbrushes and two straight razor blades to move the powder mixture around.
Black boards stolen from a couple of my art storage pockets.
My dear and lovely Casio Exilim digital camera.
PLiska Image Resizer to resize all my photographs to a more manageable size in one big batch.
"The Girl You Lost to Cocaine" by Sia (note: no permission gained)
Audacity to edit the song to a shorter length and to measure the length of each word.
MonkeyJam to piece together some 600 frames in match with the audio track.

(Note: the three above-mentioned programs are all freeware. Try 'em!)
